QUESTION: Why are you so hostile to all the national parties, especially the communists?

KANSHI RAM: To my mind, all parties represent the forces of status quo. For us, politics is the politics of transformation. The existing parties are the reason for the status quo. That is why there has been no upward mobility for the backward communities. The communist parties have become the biggest stumbling block in this regard. They keep talking about change, but work for status quo. The BJP is better, they never talk about change. So people never feel duped. Parties like the Congress and communists talk about abolishing poverty, but work towards keeping people poor. If the poor are not kept poor, these people cannot remain in their seats.

QUESTION: At the Congress centenary, Arun Singh said your emergence was not healthy for the national ethos.

KANSHI RAM: He is the grandson of a maharaja who never kept the interests of the nation in mind. Nationalism to him is feudalism. NATIONALISM TO ME IS THE MASSES OF INDIA. I BELIEVE IN THE TWO NATION THEORY: THOSE WHO OPPRESS AND THOSE WHO ARE OPPRESSED .What does the grandson of a wretched maharaja know about nationalism? What can we expect from Arun Singh than such things?

QUESTION: Why is your cadre so hostile to Mahatma Gandhi? 

KANSHI RAM: Gandhi is the root of every thing. I want change. Dr. Ambedkar wanted change. But Gandhi was the custodian of the status quo. He wanted Shudras to remain Shudras .Gandhi worked to keep the nation divided .We are working to unite the nation and erase all artificial divisions.

QUESTION: Why has your movement taken so much time to become a reality? 

KANSHI RAM: Upto 1971, I was not so much interested. I was working with RPI .Then I found I was marching towards a ship that others were deserting .It took a long time to prepare myself and others . We had to collect a lot of information, so that we could know how to prepare society and build a cadre. Preparing society initially took a long time. Now we are moving at a tremendous speed. Next year when you meet me, you will ask me how we have acquired such a speed.

QUESTION: How can you abolish caste by floating a casteist party? 

KANSHI RAM: The BSP is not a casteist party. If we are uniting 6000 castes, how can you call us casteist?

QUESTION: I believe your party is off-limits to the upper castes.

KANSHI RAM: The upper castes say why not include us. I say you are leading all the parties. If you join our party, you will blick change here also .THE UPPER CASTES CAN JOIN THE PARTY, BUT THEY CANNOT BE ITS LEADERS .LEADERSHIP WILL REMAIN IN THE HANDS OF THE BACKWARD COMMUNITY. My fear is that these upper caste people will come into our party and block the process of change .When this fear goes, they can join our party.

QUESTION: What is your constituency? 

KANSHI RAM: I REPRESENT THE CONSTITUENCIES OF BABU JAGJIVAN RAM AND CHAUDHARY CHARAN SINGH. AND MAY BE TO SOME EXTENT, SAYED SHAHABUDDIN.

QUESTION: Politicians we spoke to in Delhi say that if the BSP gets too belligerent they will finish you politically.

KANSHI RAM: WE WILL FINISH THEM .BECAUSE IF INDIRA CAN BE FINISHED BY A CHAMAR, ARE THESE FELLOWS GOING TO BE SAVED? WHEN WE ARE 90 PERCENT IN THE ARMED FORCES, 70 PER CENT IN THE BSF, 50 PER CENT IN THE CRPF AND THE POLICE, WHO CAN DO INJUSTICE TO US? A GENERAL NEEDS LESS BULLETS COMPARED TO JAWANS .THEY MAY HAVE GENERALS BUT NO JAWANS.

QUESTION: Are you advocating an eye for an eye? 

KANSHI RAM: TWO EYES .I tell my followers Ek Eet Ka Jawab, Do Pathron Se ( you must retaliate for one brick with two stones ) , otherwise you are not my followers .

QUESTION: So you are propagating violence.

KANSHI RAM: I am propagating strength. To curb violence, I must have strength .Other than me, for instance nobody can crush the Shiv Sena. Any time I come to Maharashtra, I will finish them .The violence of Shiv Sena will end.

QUESTION: - How will you do that? 

KANSHI RAM: - Who are the members of the Shiv Sena who burn and destroy? They are four castes: 1. Agari 2. Bhandari 3. Koli 4. Chamar. They are Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and most backward communities. As soon as I touch the Maharashtra, these people will instantly come with me.

QUESTION: - What makes you think that the BSP will not end up like the RPI? Bargaining for power with the ruling party.

KANSHI RAM: - The RPI never bargained. It was begging. It never reached the status of bargaining .I remember in 1971, the party struck an electoral alliance with the Congress to contest 521 seats .The Congress contested 520 seats, the RPI contested one seat. I love the RPI, but I hate being compared to it. It is like a cheap prostitute available at a pittance. As long as I am alive, this will not happen to the BSP. We want change .We don’t want alliances with the forces of status quo. If a government cannot be formed without our co-operation, then we will have our own conditions, for change. We want fundamental and structural changes, not cosmetic ones.

QUESTION: - There are rumours that you met Hazi Mastan Mirza at Gonda last November to solicit funds.

KANSHI RAM: - I have never met him anywhere. I have only seen his photograph .He may be paying other people, but not us. In fact he is being used against us. If anybody can prove that I have ever met him, I am prepared to face the highest punishment .Moreover, how much money Hazi Mastan can have? He is a very small man compared to me, as far as funds are concerned. If I only have funds like Hazi Mastan, how can I beat the Congress and other parties? How many crores can he give us? 

QUESTION: - THERE IS SOME MYSTREY ABOUT THE SOURCES OF YOUR FUNDS.

KANSHI RAM: - My funds come from various sources which will not dry up. My funds come from those people who produce wealth. The Bahujan Samaj produces wealth. I get my money from them. Lakhs of my people spend crores going to festivals like the Kumbh Mela to improve their next birth. I tell them that Kanshi Ram does not know anything about the next life. But he is an expert in the present life.

Those interested in improving their next life , I tell them , must go to the Brahmins on the banks of the Ganga .Those interested in improving their present life must come to me . So they throng to my meetings.

QUESTION: - There is talk of your being sponsored by the CIA.

KANSHI RAM: - For so many years this government has been clapping about it. It distributed lakhs of pamphlets about this in Bijnore. But the result was that people became furious and could not be purchased.  Babu Ji tried to purchase votes at Rs. 1000 each .But even those who used to be purchased at Rs.10 turned him down. And if I am a CIA man, why hasn’t this government taken any action against me? That shows it is a hijra (eunuch) government.

QUESTION: - They say you spent a lot of money on the Lucknow rally.

KANSHI RAM: -Rs. 22 lakhs were spent on hiring the buses alone .But I am angry. It should have been Rs. 22 crores .A time will come when people should spend Rs. 22 crores on my call .I don’t feel any dearth of money. If money is coming from a treasury, it will be extinguished. I am getting money from a perennial source of funds. I need only one crore rupees to win all the 542 parliamentary seats. One day, voters will queue up to pay money to Kanshi Ram. The next day, they will que up to vote for Kanshi Ram. 

QUESTION: - Some of your party men have broken away from you.

KANSHI RAM: - You cannot keep all the people together. Some people may get tired. Some people may be purchased. Some may become frightened. This will be a permanent feature. It will not demoralise us. I have created a method where in a given time if 10 people go away , we will produce 110 people of the same caliber .Whom we dropped as deadwood , others are trying to pick up and burn a fire .They are trying to use them against us. 

QUESTION: - You reiterate that you have never taken funds from a foreign source. 

KANSHI RAM: - When I went to England two years ago, some people - there are seven lakh Chamars there - offered me funds. I decided not to take the money, though Indira Gandhi, Rajiv Gandhi and Buta Singh had taken money from the same source - the Guru Ravidass Gurdwara in Birmingham. They had given to Babu Ji also .I was the only person who didn’t accept.

QUESTION: - What Kind of change are you looking for? 

KANSHI RAM: - I don’t want temporary changes. I am not prepared to attain what I cannot sustain .Let us attain whatever we can, but it must be retained and retained only by permanent change. 

QUESTION: - And when do you intend to contest elections?

KANSHI RAM: - I will stand when there are 100 constituencies in India where I can get a walk over. 

QUESTION: - How long will that take? 

KANSHI RAM: - Two years at the most.

……There is an inherent great meaning in the election symbol of BSP. The "Elephant". This election symbol of BSP represents the large and giant population of the “Bahujan Samaj" like the elephant. And the "Blue Flag" of the party represents the soothing blue sky. It shows that then sky does not discriminate anybody on the basis on caste, creed, rich, and poor and treat people with full equality. It also signifies peace and tranquility, which is certainly not available to mankind on this earth planet. That's why theBSP wants to create an atmosphere of justice and peace here and now on this earth, like the sky. The BSP thereby means that it wants to see a just, humanistic and equality-based social and economic order, which would serve the interest of all the sections of the Society. Considering all these, the BSP had chosen“Elephant" as its election symbol and "Blue" color as its flag.

Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) or Majority People's Party is one of the only five prominent national political parties of India, which is the largest democracy of the world.

Brief Introduction :

The ideology of the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) is "Social Transformation and Economic Emancipation" of the "Bahujan Samaj ", which comprises of the Scheduled Castes (SCs), the Scheduled Tribes (STs), the Other Backward Classes (OBCs) and Religious Minorities such as Sikhs, Muslims, Christians, Parsis and Buddhists and account for over 85 per cent of the country's total population.

The people belonging to all these classes have been the victims of the "Manuwadi" system in the country for thousands of years, under which they have been vanquished, trampled upon and forced to languish in all spheres of life. In other words, these people were deprived even of all those human rights, which had been secured for the upper caste Hindus under the age-old "Manuwadi Social System".

Among the great persons (Mahapurush) belonging to "Bahujan Samaj", who fought courageously and with commitment against the brutal and oppressive Manuwadi system, for providing a level playing field to the downtrodden to help move forward in their lives with "self-respect" and at par with the upper castes Hindus, especially Baba Saheb Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar's socio-political campaign later proved to be very effective in this direction.

Though the contributions of leaders of the downtrodden communities like Mahatma Jyotiba Phule, Chhatrapati Shahuji Maharaj, Narayana Guru and Periyar E. V. Ramaswami have been immense in the fight against the obnoxious Manuwadi system, but the struggle of Baba Saheb Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar, who was born in Scheduled Caste community, and that of Manyawar Kanshi Ram Ji later proved to be greatly effective and pregnant with far-reaching consequences.

Besides waging a spirited campaign against the Manuwadi Social System, Dr. Ambedkar instilled consciousness among not only the Dalits, but also among those belonging to other backward groups, which continue to be victimised and trampled under this oppressive and unjust Manuvadi Social System.

By virtue of his pivotal role in the framing of the Indian Constitution, these groups were given a number of rights in the Constitution on a legal basis to lead a life of dignity and self-respect. But he was fully conscious of the fact that these exploited sections of the society would not be able to get the full legal rights as long as the governments would remain dominated by the Manuwadi persons and parties.

That's why Dr. Ambedkar, during his lifetime, had counseled the "Bahujan Samaj" that if they wanted to fully enjoy the benefits of their legal rights, as enshrined in the Constitution, they would have to bond together all the Bahujan groups on the basis of unity and fraternity, bring them on a strong political platform and capture the "Master Key" of political power. This was to be the modus operandi for the formation of Bahujan Governments at the Centre and in States. Only such governments could enforce all the constitutional and legal rights of the "Bahujan Samaj" and provide opportunities to its People to move forward in all spheres of life besides enabling them to lead a life of "self-respect".

Keeping in view this observation and advice of Dr. Ambedkar, respected Manyawar Kanshi Ram Ji founded the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), with the help of his associates, on April 14, 1984. For many years while he enjoyed good health, he prepared the "Bahujan Samaj" to secure the "master key" of political power, which opens all the avenues for social and economic development.

However, being a diabetic and host of other serious ailments, his health did not permit him to lead an active political life for too long. On December 15, 2001, Manyawar Kanshi Ram Ji, while addressing a mammoth rally of the BSP at the Lakshman Mela Ground in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh on the banks of the river Gomti, declared Kumari (Miss) Mayawati Ji, then the lone Vice-President of the Party, as his only political heir and successor.

Moreover, on September 15, 2003, Manyawar Kanshi Ram Ji's health suffered a serious setback, and the entire responsibility of the Party fell on the shoulders of Bahan (Sister) Kumari Mayawati Ji. Later, on September 18, 2003, the Party, through a consensus and in keeping with its Constitution, made her its National President.

Being the National President of a National Party, Kumari Mayawati Ji in her address sought to assure that "I would like to make aware people of the country that my Party, the BSP, is committed to not only improving the socio-economic conditions of people belonging to the "Bahujan Samaj" but also of the poor among the upper caste Hindus, small and medium farmers, traders and people engaged in other professions.

But people of the Manuwadi mindset, even if they are in different fields of life, are acting under a conspiracy to project the image of the BSP as if it is confined to championing the cause of Dalits alone and is opposed to the upper castes Hindus and other sections of the society. Also, the BSP has nothing to do with the issues of national interest. However, on the basis of facts, I can say with firmness and conviction that all such talks are a bunch of lies, baseless and devoid of facts and are nothing else more than a slanderous campaign of the status quoits Manuwadi forces. The policies, objectives and ideology of the BSP are crystal clear and attuned to the welfare of the entire country and its vast population.

On the basis of its ideology, the BSP wants to sound the death-knell of the "Manuwadi Social System" based on the 'Varna' (which is an inequality social system) and striving hard and honestly for the establishment of an egalitarian and "Humanistic Social System" in which everyone enjoys JUSTICE (social, economic and political) and EQUALITY (of status and of opportunity) as enshrined in the PREAMBLE of the Constitution.

Further, our Party Constitution very clearly states that "the chief aim and objective of the Party shall be to work as a revolutionary social and economic movement of change with a view to realise, in practical terms, the supreme principles of universal justice, liberty, equality and fraternity enunciated in the Constitution of India."

Such a social system is wholly in the overall interest of the Country and all sections of the society too. If, in this missionary work of "Social Transformation", people of the upper castes (Hindus) shed their Manuwadi mindset and join hands with the Bahujan Samaj, our Party, with all due respect and affection would embrace them. Such people will be given suitable positions in the Party organisation in accordance with their ability, dedication and efficiency, and there would be no distinction between them and those belonging to the Bahujan Samaj. Also they will be fielded as Party candidates in the parliamentary and assembly elections, and if our government is formed, they will also be given ministerial berths.

These are not hollow talks because the BSP in the past, during the three successive governments, had implemented all such promises. In Uttar Pradesh, Ms. Mayawati government was formed four times, and on each occasion, upper castes people were inducted in the Council of Ministers. Even an upper caste person was appointed to an all-important post of Advocate General. They were given the Party ticket for Lok Sabha and Assembly elections and also nominated to the Parliament's Upper Chamber i.e. Rajya Sabha and state Legislative Councils.

In addition, upper caste people have been given high posts in the Party organisation. For example, Mr. Satish Chandra Mishra was nominated to the Rajya Sabha and also was made national general secretary of the Party. In similar fashion, other castes of the Upper Castes (Hindus) were promoted.

Thus, keeping in view all these facts, it would be injudicious and fallacious to hold that the BSP works for the welfare of a particular group or section. Yes, the Party does give priority to those sections, which have been ignored and scorned all along by the Manuwadi governments in all spheres of life. In addition, the BSP has always contributed positively to all issues pertaining to the welfare of the Country. The BSP has always taken an unequivocal stand on issues of the Country's welfare and never compromised on the issues related to the interest of the country whenever the need arose.

Aims and Objectives

The chief aim and objective of the party shall be to work as a revolutionary social and economic movement of change with a view to realise, in practical terms, the supreme principles of universal justice, liberty, equality and fraternity enunciated in the Constitution of India, to be followed by State in governance, and in particular summed up in the following extract from the Preamble of the Constitution.

We, THE PEOPLE OF INDIA, having solemnly resolved to constitute India into a SOVEREIGN SECULAR DEMOCRATIC REPUBLIC and to secure to all its citizens:

Justice, social, economic and political;

Liberty of thought, expression, belief, faith and worship;

Equality of status and opportunity; and promote among them all

Fraternity assuring the dignity of the individual and the unity and integrity of the Nation;”

The Party shall regard its ideology as a movement for ending exploitation of the weaker sections and suppression of the deprived through social and economic change in keeping with the above stated chief aim, and its political activity and participation in governance as an instrument of furthering such a movement and bringing in such a change.

This being the chief aim of the Party, the strategy of the Party in public affairs will be governed by the following general principles:

1. That all citizens of India being equal before law are entitled to be treated as equal in true sense and in all matters and all walks of life, and where equality does not exist it has to be fostered and where equality is denied it has to be upheld and fought for.

2. That the full, free, uninhibited and unimpeded development of each individual is a basic human right and State is an instrument for promoting and realising such development;

3. That the rights of all citizens of India as enshrined in the Constitution of India and subject to such restrictions as are set out in the Constitution, have to be upheld at all costs and under all circumstances;

4. That the provisions of the Constitution requiring the State at Center and in States to promote with special care and protect the socio-economic interests of the weaker sections of the society denied to them for centuries, have to upheld and given practical shape in public affairs as a matter of prime most priority.

5. That economic disparities and the wide gaps between the ‘haves' and the ‘have nots' must not be allowed to override the political principle of “one man, one vote, one vote, one value” adopted by our republic.

6. That unless political empowerment is secured for the economically deprived masses they will not be able to free themselves from the shackles of economic and social dependence and exploitation.

In particular and without prejudice to the generality of the aims stated above the Party will work specially towards the following objectives:

1. The Scheduled Castes, the Scheduled Tribes, the other Backward Castes, and the minorities, are the most oppressed and exploited people in India. Keeping in mind their large numbers, such a set of people in India is known as the Bahujan Samaj. The Party shall organise these masses.

2. The party shall work for these down trodden masses to –

a. to remove their backwardness;

b. to fight against their oppression and exploitation;

c. to improve their status in society and public life;

d. to improve their living conditions in day to day life;

2. The social structure of India is based on inequalities created by caste system and the movement of the Party shall be geared towards changing the social system and rebuild it on the basis of equality and human values. All those who join the party with the commitment to co-operate in this movement of social change shall be ingratiated into the fold of the Party.

Towards the furtherance of the above noted aims and objectives the organisational units of Party as designated in this constitution, shall be empowered to:-

1. purchase, take on lease or otherwise acquire, and maintain, moveable or immovable property for the Party and invest and deal with monies of Party in such a manner as may from time to time be determined;

2. raise money with or without security for carrying out any of the aims and objectives of the Party;

3. to do all other lawful things and acts as are incidental or conducive to the attainment of any of the aforesaid aims and objectives,

Provided that none of these activities will be undertaken without the express approval of the National President.

Dalits - who sit at the bottom of India's rigid caste system - represent 16 per cent of the population, 175million out of a total 1.1 billion people.

BSP to announce candidates' list on March 15

BANGALORE: Karnataka unit BSP today said it would release the list of 13 candidates for the Lok Sabha polls on March 15. 

As per the party's earlier decision, there will be no pre-poll alliance with any political outfit, BSP state unit President Marasandra Muniyappa told reporters here. 

"Any post-poll alliance would be decided by party chief Mayawati," he said. 

BSP has already announced a list of candidates for 15 constituencies. 

Karnataka has 28 Lok Sabha constituencies.

Major credit of OSCAR should go to many of our dedicated politicians, without their dedicated efforts of disgusting corruption; such condition of slums wouldn’t be possible.

I don’t think heads of these politicians will bow in shame when common people are living in slums. Rather than taking some efforts to give education to slum people, giving security, providing them with good houses these politicians are fighting for taking credit that see we have created slums & we won OSCAR for it! Let’s create more slums so as next time we give clean sweep to rest of world at OSCAR awards?  Or I think next credit these politicians will take for Mumbai attacks that in our regime there were more terrorist attacks.

Same pigs I saw were again fighting over taking credit for fighting against terrorism. 1^st pig said in my regime in whole country there were more than 85 bomb blasts in 6 months. 2^nd pig claimed sees you have failed, in my regime there was a big Kargil War (1000s were killed, still wives, mothers of those heroes can’t believe that their husbands/sons are no more)! 2^nd pig didn’t stopped here, he continued to claim see in the states where I am ruling like in Orissa we killed thousands innocent Christians, in Bihar just because of our dedicated corrupt efforts there was flood in Kosi river, in Karnataka we attacked on innocent women in ‘Pub” (In England it means nothing but a “Public House”, where people meet & have some refreshment but these pigs have misunderstood this as brothel) as we are the real supporters of Hindu culture, this all we made possible only through inefficiency & unlawfulness!

1^st pig in my regime I made possible killing of Sikhs, 2^nd pig replied in my regime I made possible killing of Christians, Muslims. (Forget about the condition of Dalits both pigs can take equal credit).

1^st pig didn’t stopped here & how can he stop when there are many much things to take credit for? He said in my regime the number of children suffering from malnutrition went up from 15.5% to 19.1% while the number of kids under five with anemia rose from 74.2% to 79.2% though we have doubled the child specific schemes. Credit for this also goes to our dedicated corrupt, cunning politicians. 2^nd pig was hopeful that they will be given chance in next elections to improve this tally & then he’ll see the 1^st pig. Isn’t shameful that still millions children are deprived of their rights, food, security & health.

1^st pig is tackling 2^nd pig through “Bharat Nirman” that after coming again in power I’ll give cheap food to everyone (no need to give education & jobs as I am going to give 2kg rice free per month!). 2^nd pig claimed that after coming to power i’ll run Rath Yatra throughout India, i’ll provide trishuls to everyone (so as they can kill Christians, Muslims, and Dalits easily), I’ll start Surya Namaskar in schools, (I’ll bring superstitious to schools), bring astrology to schools then everyone will get job!

I was stunned how these pigs are fighting & I preferred to leave those pigs fighting…come back to slums…

OSCAR winning movie showed clearly that children being tortured, forced into begging profession (highly paid!) in addition to all other evils like corrupt police force, brothels etc. Does 1^st pig take credit for all of these?

People in slums are living in unimaginable poverty, stop taking credit for all these & work for improvement.

There were many more issues on which pigs wanted to take credit for, but till that time their landlord appeared & both disappeared!  Anyhow pigs will continue fighting & it’s time for all of us to think, do we want to see these pigs in parliament again? Think logically & this time VOTE FOR CHANGE!

Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) or Majority People's Party is one of the only five prominent national political parties of India, which is the largest democracy of the world.

Brief Introduction :

The ideology of the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) is "Social Transformation and Economic Emancipation" of the "Bahujan Samaj ", which comprises of the Scheduled Castes (SCs), the Scheduled Tribes (STs), the Other Backward Classes (OBCs) and Religious Minorities such as Sikhs, Muslims, Christians, Parsis and Buddhists and account for over 85 per cent of the country's total population.

The people belonging to all these classes have been the victims of the "Manuwadi" system in the country for thousands of years, under which they have been vanquished, trampled upon and forced to languish in all spheres of life. In other words, these people were deprived even of all those human rights, which had been secured for the upper caste Hindus under the age-old "Manuwadi Social System".

Among the great persons (Mahapurush) belonging to "Bahujan Samaj", who fought courageously and with commitment against the brutal and oppressive Manuwadi system, for providing a level playing field to the downtrodden to help move forward in their lives with "self-respect" and at par with the upper castes Hindus, especially Baba Saheb Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar's socio-political campaign later proved to be very effective in this direction.

Though the contributions of leaders of the downtrodden communities like Mahatma Jyotiba Phule, Chhatrapati Shahuji Maharaj, Narayana Guru and Periyar E. V. Ramaswami have been immense in the fight against the obnoxious Manuwadi system, but the struggle of Baba Saheb Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar, who was born in Scheduled Caste community, and that of Manyawar Kanshi Ram Ji later proved to be greatly effective and pregnant with far-reaching consequences.

Besides waging a spirited campaign against the Manuwadi Social System, Dr. Ambedkar instilled consciousness among not only the Dalits, but also among those belonging to other backward groups, which continue to be victimised and trampled under this oppressive and unjust Manuvadi Social System.

By virtue of his pivotal role in the framing of the Indian Constitution, these groups were given a number of rights in the Constitution on a legal basis to lead a life of dignity and self-respect. But he was fully conscious of the fact that these exploited sections of the society would not be able to get the full legal rights as long as the governments would remain dominated by the Manuwadi persons and parties.

That's why Dr. Ambedkar, during his lifetime, had counseled the "Bahujan Samaj" that if they wanted to fully enjoy the benefits of their legal rights, as enshrined in the Constitution, they would have to bond together all the Bahujan groups on the basis of unity and fraternity, bring them on a strong political platform and capture the "Master Key" of political power. This was to be the modus operandi for the formation of Bahujan Governments at the Centre and in States. Only such governments could enforce all the constitutional and legal rights of the "Bahujan Samaj" and provide opportunities to its People to move forward in all spheres of life besides enabling them to lead a life of "self-respect".

Keeping in view this observation and advice of Dr. Ambedkar, respected Manyawar Kanshi Ram Ji founded the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), with the help of his associates, on April 14, 1984. For many years while he enjoyed good health, he prepared the "Bahujan Samaj" to secure the "master key" of political power, which opens all the avenues for social and economic development.

However, being a diabetic and host of other serious ailments, his health did not permit him to lead an active political life for too long. On December 15, 2001, Manyawar Kanshi Ram Ji, while addressing a mammoth rally of the BSP at the Lakshman Mela Ground in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh on the banks of the river Gomti, declared Kumari (Miss) Mayawati Ji, then the lone Vice-President of the Party, as his only political heir and successor.

Moreover, on September 15, 2003, Manyawar Kanshi Ram Ji's health suffered a serious setback, and the entire responsibility of the Party fell on the shoulders of Bahan (Sister) Kumari Mayawati Ji. Later, on September 18, 2003, the Party, through a consensus and in keeping with its Constitution, made her its National President.

Being the National President of a National Party, Kumari Mayawati Ji in her address sought to assure that "I would like to make aware people of the country that my Party, the BSP, is committed to not only improving the socio-economic conditions of people belonging to the "Bahujan Samaj" but also of the poor among the upper caste Hindus, small and medium farmers, traders and people engaged in other professions.

But people of the Manuwadi mindset, even if they are in different fields of life, are acting under a conspiracy to project the image of the BSP as if it is confined to championing the cause of Dalits alone and is opposed to the upper castes Hindus and other sections of the society. Also, the BSP has nothing to do with the issues of national interest. However, on the basis of facts, I can say with firmness and conviction that all such talks are a bunch of lies, baseless and devoid of facts and are nothing else more than a slanderous campaign of the status quoits Manuwadi forces. The policies, objectives and ideology of the BSP are crystal clear and attuned to the welfare of the entire country and its vast population.

On the basis of its ideology, the BSP wants to sound the death-knell of the "Manuwadi Social System" based on the 'Varna' (which is an inequality social system) and striving hard and honestly for the establishment of an egalitarian and "Humanistic Social System" in which everyone enjoys JUSTICE (social, economic and political) and EQUALITY (of status and of opportunity) as enshrined in the PREAMBLE of the Constitution.

Further, our Party Constitution very clearly states that "the chief aim and objective of the Party shall be to work as a revolutionary social and economic movement of change with a view to realise, in practical terms, the supreme principles of universal justice, liberty, equality and fraternity enunciated in the Constitution of India."

Such a social system is wholly in the overall interest of the Country and all sections of the society too. If, in this missionary work of "Social Transformation", people of the upper castes (Hindus) shed their Manuwadi mindset and join hands with the Bahujan Samaj, our Party, with all due respect and affection would embrace them. Such people will be given suitable positions in the Party organisation in accordance with their ability, dedication and efficiency, and there would be no distinction between them and those belonging to the Bahujan Samaj. Also they will be fielded as Party candidates in the parliamentary and assembly elections, and if our government is formed, they will also be given ministerial berths.

These are not hollow talks because the BSP in the past, during the three successive governments, had implemented all such promises. In Uttar Pradesh, Ms. Mayawati government was formed four times, and on each occasion, upper castes people were inducted in the Council of Ministers. Even an upper caste person was appointed to an all-important post of Advocate General. They were given the Party ticket for Lok Sabha and Assembly elections and also nominated to the Parliament's Upper Chamber i.e. Rajya Sabha and state Legislative Councils.

In addition, upper caste people have been given high posts in the Party organisation. For example, Mr. Satish Chandra Mishra was nominated to the Rajya Sabha and also was made national general secretary of the Party. In similar fashion, other castes of the Upper Castes (Hindus) were promoted.

Thus, keeping in view all these facts, it would be injudicious and fallacious to hold that the BSP works for the welfare of a particular group or section. Yes, the Party does give priority to those sections, which have been ignored and scorned all along by the Manuwadi governments in all spheres of life. In addition, the BSP has always contributed positively to all issues pertaining to the welfare of the Country. The BSP has always taken an unequivocal stand on issues of the Country's welfare and never compromised on the issues related to the interest of the country whenever the need arose.

Aims and Objectives

The chief aim and objective of the party shall be to work as a revolutionary social and economic movement of change with a view to realise, in practical terms, the supreme principles of universal justice, liberty, equality and fraternity enunciated in the Constitution of India, to be followed by State in governance, and in particular summed up in the following extract from the Preamble of the Constitution.

We, THE PEOPLE OF INDIA, having solemnly resolved to constitute India into a SOVEREIGN SECULAR DEMOCRATIC REPUBLIC and to secure to all its citizens: 

Justice, social, economic and political; 

Liberty of thought, expression, belief, faith and worship; 

Equality of status and opportunity; and promote among them all 

Fraternity assuring the dignity of the individual and the unity and integrity of the Nation;”

The Party shall regard its ideology as a movement for ending exploitation of the weaker sections and suppression of the deprived through social and economic change in keeping with the above stated chief aim, and its political activity and participation in governance as an instrument of furthering such a movement and bringing in such a change.

This being the chief aim of the Party, the strategy of the Party in public affairs will be governed by the following general principles:

1. That all citizens of India being equal before law are entitled to be treated as equal in true sense and in all matters and all walks of life, and where equality does not exist it has to be fostered and where equality is denied it has to be upheld and fought for.

2. That the full, free, uninhibited and unimpeded development of each individual is a basic human right and State is an instrument for promoting and realising such development;

3. That the rights of all citizens of India as enshrined in the Constitution of India and subject to such restrictions as are set out in the Constitution, have to be upheld at all costs and under all circumstances;

4. That the provisions of the Constitution requiring the State at Center and in States to promote with special care and protect the socio-economic interests of the weaker sections of the society denied to them for centuries, have to upheld and given practical shape in public affairs as a matter of prime most priority.

5. That economic disparities and the wide gaps between the ‘haves' and the ‘have nots' must not be allowed to override the political principle of “one man, one vote, one vote, one value” adopted by our republic.

6. That unless political empowerment is secured for the economically deprived masses they will not be able to free themselves from the shackles of economic and social dependence and exploitation.

In particular and without prejudice to the generality of the aims stated above the Party will work specially towards the following objectives:

1. The Scheduled Castes, the Scheduled Tribes, the other Backward Castes, and the minorities, are the most oppressed and exploited people in India. Keeping in mind their large numbers, such a set of people in India is known as the Bahujan Samaj. The Party shall organise these masses.

2. The party shall work for these down trodden masses to – 

a. to remove their backwardness; 

b. to fight against their oppression and exploitation; 

c. to improve their status in society and public life; 

d. to improve their living conditions in day to day life;

2. The social structure of India is based on inequalities created by caste system and the movement of the Party shall be geared towards changing the social system and rebuild it on the basis of equality and human values. All those who join the party with the commitment to co-operate in this movement of social change shall be ingratiated into the fold of the Party.

Towards the furtherance of the above noted aims and objectives the organisational units of Party as designated in this constitution, shall be empowered to:-

1. purchase, take on lease or otherwise acquire, and maintain, moveable or immovable property for the Party and invest and deal with monies of Party in such a manner as may from time to time be determined;

2. raise money with or without security for carrying out any of the aims and objectives of the Party;

3. to do all other lawful things and acts as are incidental or conducive to the attainment of any of the aforesaid aims and objectives,

Provided that none of these activities will be undertaken without the express approval of the National President.
